Do you habit track?

Writer's picture: LauraLaura

I don't know about you, but I am one of those people who is actually highly motivated by tracking my habits. I like to have visual representation of my progress towards my goals and habits. TJ says it's like a sticker chart for grown-ups, and he's not wrong.

One of the best tools I've used over the years to set personal goals and intentions, journal and track my progress are Silk & Sonder journals. These are absolutely beautiful journals with so many details and features. If you want, you can even join a whole community of S&S fans and meet-up for virtual social gatherings. There's an app with content and challenges and so much more. I highly suggest you check it out HERE.

There are infinite ways you can customize these journals to suit your needs. I am currently using the weekly layout as a short journalling space where I journal at the end of each day. The Silk & Sonder app has daily journalling prompts, but I usually just write about my day, my feelings, etc. I use the weekly planner layouts to be intentional about the main things I want to do or feel for the week and the habits I want to track. The photo below shows how I track weekly using markers to color code. You would not have to color code your tracking - I'm just a pen nerd so ...

You can see that for the week shown in the photo it was easy for me to tell the habits I am doing well with and those that I'm falling off with. I can use this to decide whether to continue to track those habits the following week or to change it up.

The next photo shows a layout with a habit tracker and mood tracker for the whole month. I am not using the mood tracker this time but I am using the monthly habit tracker. To keep it simple, I'm just tracking the same habits as in my weekly layouts and coloring them in both places.

Another layout that I like and intend to use each month is the monthly intentions page. You can see how I filled it out for January in the photo below. I really like how this format breaks down the intentions into several important areas: spiritual, personal, physical, relationship, money and career. This aligns well with the concepts in my holistic health coaching training.

I would love to hear from you on this post. Do you track habits? Do you set intentions? Do you have a journalling practice? If not, is there a piece of this that tugs at you? Leave a comment to share.

HI, Laura! I journal and have since I was 18 or 19 years old-that's more than 40 years! I have journaling books, handwritten for most of those years. I now journal in a Word document for ease, although, I miss the writing and, I think, there's benefits to putting pen to paper. My journaling is less formal than in the journal you use. I write my intentions. my observations, my feelings, quotes that inspire me, etc. As far as tracking habits, I use an excel spreadsheet that lists my goals and intentions, and tracks my progress. For instance, in organizing my house, I have a list for each room and I write "done" in the column next to …

That's amazing that you have journalled so consistently for so long! I am impressed!! Also super impressed with your spreadsheet tracking system. Spreadsheets are my nemesis. LOL I do really love using my Silk & Sonder journals. :-)
